Overview
When an engineering consultant approached Nyati Steel Crafts for a quote on the fabrication and installation of heavy-duty tank stands, the project presented an immediate challenge: the installation site was on the sixth floor of a multi-storey building, with no crane access. Moving multiple tonnes of steel to the roof in one piece was impossible but we pride ourselves on finding solutions where others see obstacles.
Our Solution
To overcome the logistical hurdles, we collaborated closely with the design engineer and devised a fully modular, bolt-together system for the tank stands.
Key elements of the solution included:
Bolt-On Modular Design
Each component was prefabricated off-site and engineered to bolt together on the roof without welding or heavy lifting equipment.
Precision Fabrication
Approximately 2 tonnes of steel were cut, drilled, and finished to exact tolerances to ensure a seamless fit once on site.
Manual Material Handling
With no crane available, every single steel section was carried by hand to the sixth-floor rooftop, coordinated for safe and efficient movement.
Protective Finish
All components were finished for durability, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance in a high-exposure environment.
The Result.
The tank stands were assembled quickly and accurately on the roof, meeting all structural requirements and satisfying the engineer’s original design intent. The client was highly impressed with our adaptability, attention to safety, and quality of workmanship.
